Availability: iPhone · iPad · Mac · Apple Watch · Free. Checked for app version: 1.0.0.
Outcome
Grant only the permissions for the features you want to use; the live radar needs location, while Sky Scanner additionally needs camera and motion access.
How to do it
- Complete the short introduction and choose whether MODE 1090 may use your location while the app is active.
- Allow precise location for an accurate local radar center, distances and Sky Scanner alignment.
- On iPhone or iPad, allow camera access when you first open Sky Scanner. The camera acts only as a viewfinder.
- Allow motion and compass access when prompted so the alignment guide can compare your device direction with nearby tracks.
- On Apple Watch, allow location access for an independent wrist radar. You can change any permission later in System Settings.
Good to know
- No camera photo is captured, stored or uploaded by Sky Scanner.
- If you decline a permission, MODE 1090 keeps the unaffected parts available and shows how to enable the missing access later.
- Mac has no Sky Scanner and therefore does not request camera or motion access for that feature.
If the result looks different, open Settings > Help and send the visible status together with device, operating system and app version.
