Roadmap

Wishlist & live alerts

Receive opt-in notifications for wishlist types, registrations, special encounters, ETAs and changes in observed operating direction at saved places—without creating a continuous location trail.

Spotting photo community

Share selected spotting photos with the community and discover sightings by aircraft type or airport. Everything stays private by default, location metadata is removed and shared content is moderated.

Personal recaps

You can already choose to share monthly recaps with friends. Further personal recaps, such as your first sighting, longest-distance sighting or most varied spotting day, and optional challenges without points grind or daily streak pressure are planned.

Android and web apps

Once the Apple experience is polished, the calm live monitor and collection will come to Android and the web with platform-appropriate interaction.

Private photo cloud & backup

Keep your spotting photos privately in the MODE 1090 photo cloud, synchronize them across your devices and restore them after changing devices. Local photos and free collection sync remain independent.

Live ATC

If available in your region, listen to Live ATC directly from the app

Global leaderboards

Global rankings for the spotting community are planned. Private comparisons with friends are already available for today, this week, all time and aircraft types.

Your own spotting photos

Attach your own spotting photos privately to sightings and see them throughout your collection and history. Initially, every image stays on your device.

Personal flight logbook & import

Record flights you travelled on, manually or directly with ‘I’m on board’. Import existing logbook data; a route map and statistics show distances, countries, aircraft types and airlines.

Catch Map

Every sighting pinned where you made it, clustered and filterable by type or collection.

Apple TV: The wrong location is being used

Quests & Levels

Earn XP for every confirmed sighting, climb through the spotter ranks and clear three daily goals that reset at midnight.

Achievements & Badges

Unlock achievements and badges for confirmed sightings, aircraft types, airlines and special discoveries. Explore your progress and earned badges in the collection.

iPhone and iPad: Search for airports on the live map

Search for an airport on the live map and jump to its location to explore nearby air traffic.

Apple TV: Search for Airports and Use Them as Locations

Jump to any airport to check out the traffic there, instead of always just looking at your own location.

Friends

Connect with friends through invitation links and compare synced sightings for today, this week, all time and aircraft types. You choose whether to share special discoveries and monthly recaps; locations and private notes stay private.

Invite Links

Share an invitation link that opens in MODE 1090. New users can download the app, sign in and confirm the invitation. Friendship starts only after confirmation in the app.
